In the Current Issues in Teaching course, our assignment was to create an AI-enhanced, corpus-based teaching material. We designed a classroom activity by using and combining both artificial intelligence and the SkELL platform as a corpus tool. This activity was then transformed into a lesson plan in accordance with the ASSURE model. The main objective of this study is to enable students to observe authentic language use and to promote more interactive learning.

Through these activities, students can identify certain patterns by examining authentic examples and create their own sentences by using AI. Therefore, they can improve both their research skills and production skills.
According to the ASSURE model, the target audience of the lesson is high school students. The teaching objectives are to enable students to observe examples, identify and apply patterns, and create new sentences. An interactive platform was used for material presentation. Students’ creations were taken into consideration during the evaluation process.
While designing the material, we considered students’ proficiency levels, their interests, and their learning styles. In addition, system-based AI provides instant feedback, which is very useful for students. However, some problems may be encountered during implementation in a real classroom. These problems may include internet connection issues, technological infrastructure deficiencies, overreliance on AI use, and the complexity of the material.
In conclusion, this process showed me the power of technology in material design and how a corpus-based approach can support student learning. However, making the material more user-friendly is also very important.
